Biography
Mikki Leung holds a Masters of Music (MM) in Theory from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) and a Bachelor of Music (BM) in Theory from the University of Toronto. Mikki also holds an ARCT Violin Performer’s Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Along with her specialization in music theory, she had studied with the violin instructors of the Faculty of Music during her undergraduate and graduate years in universities. In Toronto, her violin teachers included Alec Hou, Paul Armin, and Mark Skazinetsky. In her graduate year in the United States, she was admitted to the violin studio of Gerardo Ribeiro, who was the head of the string department at Northwestern University. Her theory and composition instructors included Robert Gjerdingen, Larysa Kuzmenko, Edward Laufer, Alexander Rapoport, Mark Sallmen, and Chan Ka Nin.
Mikki began teaching violin and music theory in 1998, and has also prepared students for both RCM Practical and Theory examinations. As a teacher, she has a vast experience working with children (from as young as 4 to teenagers) and adults. She is currently teaching at her own studio and online.
